Default Recommend a decent Craftsman tool set for me..

I want to invest in a set of decent Sears Craftsman tools, but nothing major, just a few sockets, ratches & wrenches for @home oil changes, fluid drains, etc. When I go to sears website there are so many tool sets so I don't know what I really need. Thanks

I recently picked up a 112(?) piece mechanic's tool set thet would probibally fit your requirements. Good selection of both metric and English sockets and wrenches. Enough for most S2K maintaince chores. List price was $99 but I was lucky because I found it in the bargin bin missing a piece, marked down to $40. Don't know what was missing because when I inventoried the kit everything seemed to be there! Tools came in a black plastic case that actually is quite usefull. Good luck.

Good for you for doing your own maintenance!

I've heard Craftsman is a very good value. One minor item I look for in a pakcage is a spark plug adaptor with a decent extension.

That's my random comment.

I've recently started building a tool collection as well, mainly consisting of craftsman tools due to their great value and lifetime warranty.

I would also recommend getting a torque wrench in order to torque drain and fill bolts properly. I got one from sears, a craftsman, with a 3/8" drive, ratcheting head, and 0-75 ft lbs. I can't seem to find that exact one online, but it works GREAT! A torque wrench is invaluable if you want to do the job right.

Here is a link to a similar one, one that can torque to 250 ft lbs...Mine looks exactly like this one but has less "strength." Mine was $59.99 at sears.

I got the craftsman 289 (?) peice tool set on sale for 179.99. Just wait for some sales to come around because they are usually very good. I also got a torque wrench to go along with it. Now I'm waiting for a sale on air compressors

get a big set, then supplement it with a torque wrench that can go down to 5 lb, oil filter wrench, breaker bar, 24mm socket and 23mm closed end wrench (both for diff fluid change), and 5mm hex attachment for a ratchet or solo tool like this

Get the biggest set you can afford.

I have a ton of tools and am happy everytime I don't need to go to the store during the middle of a project.
