Default Red Line Complete Fuel System Cleaner

Has any one used the Red Line SI-1 treatment to clean their S2000 engine? What are the thoughts positive or negative on the treatment? Thanks!

It's one of the few products out there that is strong enough to work in one dose, it has a reputation as being one of the most effective cleaners. Most other over-the-counter type products don't have enough concentration to work. One half-bottle treats a full tank, a half bottle every 6-12 months is plenty . I run it in all of my vehicles. I like it. It;s more of a fuel injector cleaner, if your injectors need cleaning it will work, if they don't need it you won't notice a difference. It has some upper cylinder lubricating properties too, which isn't a bad idea.

The Redline stuff is really good as it contains 30-50% of PolyEther Amine (PEA), which is a powerful solvent. Redline is one of the few who still use the good stuff to clean out deposits.

That's exactly it, PEA is the stuff that works. I believe Techron uses a lower concentration of it, and is also regarded as being a decent cleaner, but Redline appears to be better. It is strong enough to affect some used oil analysis reports so you know it is capable of working and I only run it maybe once a year.

SI-1 is one of the best fuel system treatments available and one I've used for years. My number 2 fuel injection cleaner is Amsoil's Performance Improver (PI). PI has similar chemistry to SI-1 from what I understand, however my car seems to run slightly better with SI-1 (subjective). You know I'm a fan of the product if I choose it over an Amsoil product!

The key point is I never run a full bottle in a tank - I add a small amount in every fill. In fact, the older bottles used to have titration marks on the side. You would get about 10 10-gallon treatments per bottle, if I remember correctly. I typically went a little stronger than what the titration marks indicated - I could typically treat 6 tankfuls per SI-1 bottle.

Road Rage introduced the forum to SI-1 years back. It was one of his top 2.

Techron is excellent as well. However, it's also very powerful. If you use the more concentrated version (full bottle) you should change your oil following that tank of gas.

I love Redline. It probably has the most PEA content available today. I still have a bunch of older stock Gummout Regane from the days it contained ample amount of PEA.

Seafoam is meh in the gas tank. It's just like any other 'cleaner' out there. Doesn't really hold a candle Redline. I stopped buying Seafoam years ago. Running water through the vacuum line is much cheaper and more readily available.

using chevron gas and maintaining your car regularly will help your car run at its best for a long time. and the only fuel additive i will use ever is chevron fuel injector cleaner. its proven to work clean and well and i was able to found out for myself by taking engines apart and inspecting valves. Techron is by far the best combination of gas and fuel additive cleaner in the market. just to put it out there if everything else work so much better such as sea foam and other so call tune up in a bottle . why wont the automotive manufacture use it. simply because it doesn't work. all comes down to maintenance and driver..
