Because there are dumb people out there who cannot follow instructions on how to use a product. They go overboard and wonder why their engines don't run correctly when their engines are flooded with fuel additives.

The amount of cleaner in Chevron gas is so diluted that by itself, it won't do much. MOST cleaners out there do not work simple because they suck and are nothing more than just kerosene. Redline SI-1, Gumout Regane, etc works because they contain PEA which is effective in cleaning crap out of your system. Chevron Techron, at least their original formula, works because it contained PEA. In fact, Chevron patented the formula in the 80s. There are only a handful of cleaners that work, but people shouldn't expect miracles out of them.

yep like a few guys above said, look for a cleaner with some PEA in it. Proven to work and not leave behind any of its own deposits.

The Redline & Amsoil cleaners are both good,IMO.I've used both.

The strongest cleaner is probably the BG 44K.

BG 44K is considered the industry standard that others within the industry shoot for. But I consider it a cure, rather than a preventive maintenance regimen.
