The straight 90 weight of MT-90
MT-90 is not a straight 90 weight

MT-90 is a multi-vis 75W-90 gear oil.

Got it. Thanks JP.

However my thoughts still apply. The MT-90 will not feel as good on cold morning starts.

Let me get this straight.....

So are you guys saying that once the car is warmed up, the MT-90 will allow a smoother/better shifting than MTL?

And the only good that the MTL is that it'll give you a smoother shift when the car is cold?
I don't know if the MT-90 is going to be smoother than MTL b/c i have not tried the MTL. I just know that MT-90 was real smooth once warm.

I've been running MT-90 here in NYC for 3 winters now, no problems w/ it. Took it out when it was single digits one winter and was expecting it to be worse from what I read here. It helped significantly my 2nd gear grind, and the warm up time is no big deal, since I don't rev and shift much till 2/3 bars anyway.

Wait. I'm confused.

What is the correct (=no b.s.) aftermarket trans oil for the car? I live in the philly 'burbs, so the temperature may go down to 10'F.

Huh?

Redline recomends MTL for our cars, its the same viscosity as Honda MTF.

70W-80 (keep in mind that gear oils and motor oils are rated differently so don't directly compare them)
