Default Relocating Battery to Trunk

Since I will be installing a Full Race Turbo manifold it looks like I'm going to have to relocate my battery to the trunk. I don't want to re-invent the wheel though, so if there is anyone out there who has already done this, can you provide any tips, pictures, or suggestions before I get started.

I've got to think that you'd still have room to fit a small Odyssey battery somewhere in the engine bay....it's a tiny battery but has no problem cranking my SC'd car even when temps get to the 40s (hey, I live in CA!).

Fred,

don't use the Hawker or Odyssey battery. It will not have enough amps. You can pick up a relocator kit at any auto part shop. I ran the line under the car and it runs along the inside frame rail (right hand side). It makes it way adjacent to the right rear wheels into the trunk and the battery itself is placed on the right hand side of the trunk. You have to play a little with the connectors and placement so when the trunk is opening or closing the hinges does not bind or touch the terminal connectors. This one was not that difficult at all. The carpet needed some cutting and also pick up a battery box if you can find the right size. I have yet to locate one that does not interfere with those stubborn hinges again.

I've been using an Oddesey battery for over a year now with no problem. But maybe the extra ten feet or so of wire from the trunk to the engine bay makes a difference. In any case, how did you get the cable from the trunk to under the car? Did you have to drill or is there already an opening?

I drilled a hole and inserted a rubber gromet to protect the cable itself. I also applied a little silicone around the cable in the hole.
