Default Reman'd Alternators

Unfortunately I haven't had any luck tracking down a locally used OEM alternator... therefore I am turning to the aftermarket...

Are there certain manufactures that you have tried that turned out good for you? There are a few re manufacturers on Rock Auto (e.g. Denso, ACDelco, Remy Power Select).

Denso is the original manufacturer of the OEM alternator.

Worst mistake ever was buying a brand new ebay alternator for $120. It was new and shiny and unbranded. In less than a year, the voltage regulator went out putting 17+ volts to the battery and killing the battery. Before that, the car would be hard to start when the engine was hot and left me stranded at the gas station. And then the car would occasionally shut off when coming to a stop because the RPM would dip too low. I hated the car. After killing my battery, I bought a used OEM alternator on ebay for cheap and it solved everything. I replaced the brush for reassurance. After that, all my electrical gremlins went away.

My alternator was still charging the battery, but I had a bad rectifier causing the dash to flicker. I went through one DENSO reman alternator (purchased from Amazon), and two Autozone/Duralast alternators. I got one that worked fine for a a year, but my dash started flickering again. I purchased a rectifier from this seller https://www.ebay.com/itm/100-NEW-ALT...frcectupt=true on the reccomendation of this message board and it works great.

f I were to do it over again, I would have kept my original DENSO alternator and done a complete rehaul myself, it is really easy and instructions are laid out in the service manual (there's also nothing unique about the S2k alternator so a generic guide will work as well).
