Thumbs up Remote key fob issue - resolved

Up until last week the remote key fob on my AP1 was working normally.
Then one day it stopped working.
I replaced the fob battery to no avail.
I tried my spare fob - it was not working either.
So I tried the key fob re-programming routine - the remote system would not enter the programming mode.
Hmmmmm,,,,,,,
I had a look at the two fuses related to the remote system.
The fuses were not blown, but the contact lugs looked tarnished.
I cleaned them up and reinserted the fuses....
Bingo! The fobs were working again.
So I went out and bought all new fuses and replaced all of them.....
All good now!

Yup! Fuse contacts sometime get hinky. Especially with age and weather. DeOxit is your friend!

DEoxID works well to clean and protect. Or
NO-OX-ID grease NO-OX-ID grease
for new fuses for a fraction of the cost. .

I've been using DeOxit for +15 years too (learned it from the music studio scene) ...and use it on automotive electronics too (where most mechanics would just use Dielectric grease).

It's so much better than Dielectric grease - actually cleans corrosion and also protects (without leaving a big greasy blob).
Whereas, Dielectric grease attracts waaay too much dirt and grime and looks like a black, muddy, globby, dirty mess after a decade or two
Eg: when I first got my car, the connectors/plugs on my rear license plate light looks like a blob of black grease (obviously, it was Dielectric grease). So, cleaned the mess thoroughly and used DeOxit on the contacts and it's been clean and working ever since. All the other plugs for lights were similar (black greasy and dirty). And DeOxit also works great for the dome light!

That's where I learn of contact cleaners. I even have some really old Cramolin (1980-90s era) sitting in my guitar/amp bench.
