Default REMOVAL OF CAT. CONVERTER

Does removing cat. converter and replacing with a test pipe really add any power and/or improve driveability?

Yep, i'm running a testpipe. Even in Cali- cops can't touch this....

hehe

I used the technique of the 2 18mm spark plug anti-foulers. Works great so far, and an easy install. You can search for the page

I also have a test pipe, wouldn't go back to the cat for anything.
Bane, I'm with you on the environment lovers thing, I figured they would have chimed in by now.

I think that even if there were enviormentalists ready to chime in, they would be of the kind that have Stooks, and an owner of a Stook probably cares more about the driving than anything else.

Also I bet that without the cat (do we have 2?) the S would still prolly make only a bit more pollution than some of the other vehicles out there.

Oh and as far as O2 simulators , what exactly would you need? All an O2 sensor does is give a voltage output corresponding to the sensor input. I guess you might be able to just hookup some sort of voltage source to it???? But thats only if it would be considered ok by the ECU to see a constant value from the O2 sensor, the case might be that it needs or expects to see certain variations , like at WOT or maybe while warming up, but i dunno.

Have any of you with test pipes driven by those emissions testing sensors? I don't know what they're called exactly, but here in Dallas, they have these setups situated at the onramps to the freeways. There's a big sign that says "emissions testing" and a camera to record license plates I suppose. These setups are random as they're moved all over the metroplex from what I can tell.

And to answer JROSEN's question, I had a test pipe on my RSX, and there was definitely a noticeable difference once VTEC hit.
