Removal of PCV valve, when using Krank Vents?
Im "optimizing" my vacuum system, and from what I know about the pcv valve, it is just a one way valve, just like the krank vent. Except of course the KV is stronger than the pcv. If I have the krank vent, I don't need the PCV do I? It seems like a bottleneck, or redudant to me. Can't I remove the pcv and just plug a hose in the whole instead, using my current catch can/Krank Vent system? Just wanted to doublt check before I do this, thanks.
when i had these on my 03, i had the oem pcv valve still installed. i can understand how your calling it a 'bottleneck', makes a lot of sense. i dont see though, a reason to remove it. i had great results(N/A) with the all working together....stop burning oil, and the car felt great.
Drill out the PCV valve so that you can still use the elbow to plug into the valve cover.
The idling issues that stphotographer mentioned are a result of the vacuum in the crankcase being released a bit by the spark plug tube seals. That issue can happen with the PCV valve, and is actually more annoying than with the PCV valve internals removed (I've had both). With the PCV valve in the noise will be a repetitive squeak, without the PCV valve it's a whirring noise.

The "bottleneck" is the one reason to keep it in line.
The OEM PCV valve, IMO, also acts like a metering valve and only lets a fixed amout of air flow through, IOW it regulates.
There have been reports of failing spark plug coil seals with KrankVents.
Oil builds up around the sparkplug and may cause a short in the coil.
Keep your eye on them.
It's an easy check every now and then.
