Default Removing AC

Apparently, I need to remove the entire AC system. Is there anything I need to be aware of, and is there an appropriate method, that is environmentally kosher, to dispose of the R134.

Any help/hints/tips appreciated.

Thanks.

To Remove the R134 in the enviromently "kosher" way i think you will have to take it to a shop that can capture it. (I think most shops should have a machine that does that). They should be able to get the system mostly empty for you, so you can hack away at your ac lines with a clean enviromentle conscience.

R134a must me recovered by law, most shops will have a minimal fee for doing this. It's only a matter of attaching 2 hoses to a recovery machine, open 2 valves and push "recover" The equiptment is the expensive part. Most machines run 3-6K

R12 has to be recovered by law. R134a is enviromentally safe and you can suck it out with the appropriate pump and discharge it into the air.

for the pump http://www.harborfreight.com/cpi/ctaf/Disp...temnumber=92475

for the required guage set to connect to the r134a high and low pressure service ports http://www.harborfreight.com/cpi/ctaf/Disp...itemnumber=2435

It's still unlawful to discharge R134A to the atmostsphere. You won't find any reputable shop that doesn't recover.
