Default Removing steering shaft through engine bay

I want to remove the steering shaft, part #3 in the diagram. I already have it disconnected from the steering rack down below.

Is it possible to remove bolt #8 and then remove the steering shaft from the car through the engine bay side WITHOUT removing the steering wheel or anything behind it? I'm assuming I will have to pop off that dust seal part #7 (and sub-part #6). Is that bolt #8 accessible from under the dash with the interior still together? Can the large hub of the steering shaft be removed through the hole in part #6 and pulled through the firewall to remove it from the car?

The #08 bolt is accessible without removing anything from the interior, but I think I am right in saying that the front section of the shaft has to be pulled out from the interior of the car

I am really hoping that the reason they made that #6 seal piece with such a large hole in it is so that you can remove the three nuts from part #7, remove #7 through the engine bay, then disconnect bolt #8 and slide that hub and everything through the hole in #6 and out through the engine bay. Otherwise there wouldn't be any reason to make a large hole in that seal piece if the intent was to always install/remove through the interior side.

Just wanting to see if anyone else has done it this way to give me some hope before attempting.

#6 holds #7 against the fire wall on the inside, I don't think you can access either one from the engine bay. The hole for the steering rack is actually several inches in front of the firewall on the frame

Shiiiiiiiii... Upon further inspection it looks like I am hosed. Doesn't look like part #7 can be accessed through the engine bay side as the shaft goes through a hole in the frame rail before it goes through the firewall. Plus it doesn't look like the hub side on the steering shaft could fit through that hole that it passes through in the frame rail.
