Default Removing Stock Exhaust

I just got my nice Spugen Exhaust yesterday and have to wait till Tuesday to put it on. I'm pretty sure I can get it on no problem as I've installed exhausts on cars before. My only question about the process is what it takes to get the stock exhaust off. I'm pretty sure it's just one long piece so i'm looking for any tips or tricks to getting it off nice and easy. Thanks guys.

With an '01, your 3 cat bolts will be really tough to get off without breaking them. Liquid Wrench the crap out of them prior to the removal. The system will come off in one single piece from the cat back. It is heavy, so a friend will come in handy. You will need to remove most of the bolts on the rear cross brace - just enough to swing it to the driver's side. The rubber hanger mounts are typical muffler stuff, so you need some pry bars to pop them off and to get them back on the new system. Cover the chrome exhaust tips with masking tape to protect them from scratching if you are worried about this sort of thing.

Also lube up the rubber hangers with liquid dish soap. They'll come off much easier.

Works but may be harmful to rubber over time.

wow, i installed my amuse recently and it took hours, yes hours and hours of trying to get my 3 bolts of my stock exhaust off of my 2000. They were so rusted, after lubing them up for hours, and some seriously painful pulling, i got them off, and changed it, use dish soap solution on the hangers, worked well, def the best drive of my life afterwards bc of all the hard work. btw, none of my bolts broke, lucky me. -Anthony

Ok, so I'm looking for some fun getting the stock bolts off the car, nothing I can't handle. I have an entire day to do it. Last night I was thinking about the cars ecu and was wondering if I am going to need to reset it after the new exhaust goes in. If so, is there an easy way to do that on this car?

You "should" although it will learn in time. Pull the "BACK UP" fuse in the left side footwell fuse panel for about a minute and put it back (car OFF).

It helps alot if your car is new, or low miles because I got my old exhaust off and new on on in about 30 mins, doing all the work by myself. But I installed a single, so that made things a lot easier.
