Default Replaced Strike Plates in MY01

Install is very straightforward-- go ahead and take off the center piece of plastic where the overhead light is as well; only takes 5 extra minutes and makes everything easier.

Worthy of note: Sun visor screws were barely finger tight. Strike plate screws the same. I can't believe they hadn't rattled their way out yet.

Here are the pictures of my old striker plates. No wonder I couldn't hear myself think @ 60mph.

i dont quite see how this would affect the sound that much
if you pulled down the top all the way then lactched it should catch in the hole

it seems like it didnt grab and slipped a few times to get those marks

Those marks come from the hooks compressing the metal over time. They absolutely effected the sound. The only noise going 75mph on the freeway now is tire noise. Before I couldn't have held a conversation with someone next to me.

Did you use hardtop strikers or did you just replace with the regular ones for the soft-top?

I'll see if I can find the part #.

These are the hardtop striker plates, which is also what is used on the '02 (i think) and newer cars (even with soft tops).
