Default Replacement Clutch

I blew up my clutch and trans, Scott honda is going to warranty the trans, but not the clutch. I was quoted 800 for a new flywheel, clutch, Pressure Plate and TO bearing. I thought that sounded a little hig for those parts, what do you guys think? what do you think about putting in an aftermarket clutch/flywheel? Is it bad to go with a lightned flywheel?

Check out the S2KI Marketplace to get an estimate on prices. With a Comptech flywheel, and everything else OEM, you're looking at $734.43 Are you sure the flywheel can't be resurfaced?

Lightened flywheels make the engine rev up/down faster, but it takes getting used to launching and starting from a stop. The lighter flywheel stores less energy to help you get started, but is pretty fun once you get going.

Off topic:
I have samekind problem.
Once before I got clutch, under warranty.

Now after 20 000km my clutch is gone.
Car is still under warranty when I show the clutch to Finis Honda dealer.
Honda don't give me now anymore new clutch .
They say, that is not under warranty stuff. If it is over, buy new one.
off.

BTW. Newer ever before I don't have to change clutch kit to any of my car ( this is my 7th Honda powered car)..
So it think this is just weak clutch or somethig...Here is nothin to do with my skills !

So how many new clutch do you got under warranty?

As this is your 7th Honda I'm guessing the other 6 were front wheel drive. There's not much wrong with the S2000 clutch. But it is designed to be a sort of fuse that gives when the drive train is abused.

I'm sorry, but you lucked out getting your first clutch under warranty. Getting upset because they won't give you another one is a bit pathetic. Perhaps if you actually have to pay for one yourself you might respect it.

Just for some history, I recently replaced my clutch. It had 45,000 kilometres on it including many track days and plenty of them supercharged. I did the job myself with a beefed up OEM clutch and organic friction disk. Knowing first hand how hard the job is I won't be abusing my clutch any time soon.
