Default Replacing ALL hard brake lines?

Anyone here replace their entire set of brake lines? I'm considering it but I'm wondering how difficult a job this is - fishing solid lines through the engine bay, holes/grommets, and around the frame, through the body, etc. BTW, what are the hard lines made of - steel, stainless steel, aluminum?

I did it and it was quite easy however I had the entire powertrain including subframes removed from the car. I'm pretty sure the hard lines are steel.
