Default Replacing license plate light?

Hey guys,

So I got pulled over for the 2nd time in about a month for my license plate light burning out. You forget you even have one until you get pulled over once it burns out

Anyways, after the first warning I decided to see if it happens again, as I dont REALLY care if my license plate light works or not. But it happened again about a month after the first occurrence and so now Ive decided to fix it up.

After giving it a good look, It seems like its gonna be a bit more of a hassle to replace than I originally thought. Anyone have a DIY on how to do this? I dont think this site has one yet, and heres to hoping that the reason behind that is because its so easy to do

1. firmly squeeze on the clear plastic lens above the license plate and pull towards the ground
2. pull old bulb out
3. push new bulb in
4. replace clear plastic lens
finished

Reviving this 'cuz I just had to do it.

On my '06 AP2 all I did was stick a screw driver between the side of the cover and base and and gently pry one of the side edges away and the cover fell off. Squeezing probably works too.

Old bulb pulls straight one, new bulb presses in.

I washed the clear cover and snapped it back on.

Other than the washing part it took less time than typing this.

You should invest in LED's they'll never burn out...pretty much. My interior lights, my tag lights, and side turn lights are all LED, and I can rest easy knowing I probably won't need to replace them....ever. The wiring on the other hand....
