replacing with a new short block
I recently had a failure on my block (I did it) so I am in need of a new short block, anyway, the new short block will be going on the car soon (the work is done by a local shop not by honda dealer) and I was just wondering if there are any special break-in oil I should use. The rest of my engine has around 48k and the engine has never consume any oil at all and it has been switch to Syntec synthetic oil since 3k.
So I was thinking just to run cheap Chevron 10w-30 oil for the first 1200 miles and then just switch back to Syntec and call it good. Is it pretty much what you guys do when replacing a short-block? What do you guys think?

I got some advice from a person who builds motors for a living. He says:
(1) Put ordinary oil in the new motor for a very short time (<100 miles). Dump that oil. It has all the left over bits of junk from machining and assembling motor. That stuff will wreak havoc on the new short block.
(2) Do what you said you were going to do. Run ordinary oil for 1200 miles and then switch to Syntec.
