Default Replacing a Wheel Stud

I snapped a stud...
I have a new one.

I took the wheel, caliper, caliper mounting bracket, and rotor off.

Then I beat the cut stud out.
but the knuckel is in the way. Sooo... I got to take the whole damn thing apart now, dont I?

anyone ever replace on of these?

Thanks

You should read this

Replacing a wheel stud requires the wheel bearing replaced.

Sucks - I know, from experience. GL

Yeah you have to take the whole knuckle off. Then I would recommend just taking the knuckle into a honda dealer and having the stud replaced, that'll save you most of the labor cost. You have to have new bearings pressed in and its almost impossible to do in your home garage. If you've got a mechanic friend now is the time to call in a favor.

I thought I heard you only needed new bearings if it was a rear stud... this is on the front.

ohwell. costly mistake.

Yup, this one sucks. You should replace all your studs while you're at it. I had one replaced and sure enough another one broke off about a month later.

For me, I live in a super small town, and there is ONE guy I will let do minor things to that I can't (Bleeding brakes is one - I suck at it) So I had them do my breaks.......and they put the Slotted Rotors on wrong, so a couple guys that work there swapped them around quickly - and they cross threaded a lug. FTL about a $120-$150 mistake.

All DIY for me from now on........or I get Chris (Slows2k) - only prob is - there is about 8-9hrs of driving between us.
