reservoir covers -- purpose?
ONE, our brake and clutch reservoir tanks have a very solid locking detent that keeps the cap from turning. Ever try to see how easy it ISN'T to open those things?
SECOND, even if the cap is jarred open (I have a better chance of winning the lottery), the brake reservoir has ANOTHER cap inside. The clutch reservoir cap actually has a rubber "O" ring in it. Spills? Not likely unless you left the cap unlocked yourself (but that would be your fault, wouldn't it?) and even then, you'd have to go off road to jar it enough to make it leak.
THIRD, again, the second cap and that O-ring keeps the crap out. The discoloration that you see comes from within not from without. Any water vapour will just go right through these socks.
Having said this, they would make great Xmas stocking stuffers for the true car enthusiast who can't be bothered to buy his own.
Oh BTW, I have a few "Tornadoes" - going cheap.

I would just release the fluid through the bleeder screws on the calipers properly. Otherwise, take a syringe bulb and suck up the fluid from the resevoir prior to changing to the thicker pads.
BTW, Sam where are my Spoon bands?
