Thumbs up reseting ecu after running 87 oct

due to the fact for some reason in asheville nc, the gas shortage is hardcore. if i can even find gas i have to use 87 octane. i know the ecu adjusts for this but what i was wondering was when we actually get the good stuff back do i need to reset the ecu. i havent been running my car as hard as i normally would. does it need to be resetted to learn my driving patterns again? thanks for any replies. btw it might be a couple of weeks before i can run 93 again, should i buy some octane booster?

use octane booster and it wont hurt to reset after you get good gas back.

one other question i have is does it hurt the car to hit vtec every now and then with the crappy gas, even if there is octane booster involved, do mean to sound naive but this is the first issue ive ever had with the fuel problem and the s2000

if the octane booster actually does its job then i dont see a problem. if you are straight running 87 then i wouldnt try going in to vtec. im sure along with the extra lift, the timing map is more aggressive.

I know it sounds crazy (im running 87 too since its hard to get 93 in NC right now) but I swear the car actually feels more powerful on 87. 87 is easier to ignite, so in theory if the engine isn't knocking you are are getting a more complete burn and extracting more power from the gas.

Also, don't waste money on octane booster bottles. You would literally need a gallon or two of it to turn 87 in to 93. When they say a bottle boosts octane by 3 points for a tank of gas they mean from 87 to 87.3.

I realize the car is designed to run on higher octane though, so my butt dyno probably needs a recalibration. 93 will be going back in once I can find it around here.
