For you potential PRM owners and current ones, today I wrapped up the install of my Autometer gauges (Under the Hood) and had the guys pointing their pyrometer all around the engine for grins. At idle and after warm-up (water temp 170-degrees, 3-bars, etc) the PRM intake CAI pipe all the way towards the MAF showed 135-degrees but when they pointed the unit at the black casing, it dropped to 67-degrees. I have wrapped my black casing in Rubatex FWIW but I thought ya'll might be interested to note that tiny bit of info. It seems to me that casing does a pretty good job keeping the engine temps away from the filter.
Chris, lots of documented threads on my PRM install from the spring. I was the first S2K owner in the US with the system and it sort of cannonballed from there because in some small regard, I would like to think my constant noodling with it gave others insight into a viable alternative to the "down low" CAI's from AEM and Injen. You can't expect much more than 6-8hp from any of these units and I believe most are probably within 1-2hp of each other. It just comes down to asthetics, sound, money and to me...what was most important considering they all pretty much perform the same...ease of install.

Thanks for your thoughts. I frankly like the thought of getting that huge plastic box out of the engine compartment -- it's almost as big as the engine...
I am new to the board as I just bought my S last month, and I can never seem to get the search function to work right. I therefore aplogize if my questions are repetitive.
Being a "tuned" system it will no doubt change the throttle response within a certain RPM range. Where is the improvement (e.g.: VTEC RPM Range), and is there an adverse impact in any part of the RPM range (e.g.: low RPM Range)? What is the sound change that I have heard referred to? Is it simply an air sucking sound?
For the newbs...yeah, the search engine is sort of askew right now but Under the Hood is where it's all at...with PRM in the title line. As far as my own experience, no change in throttle response from 1-4K rpm's. Once you get into 4K range, the improvement begins but you'll have to have a really calibrated butt dyno to feel it. At VTEC and beyond is when the gravy tones begin. Think sawed-off shotgun type...more or less. lol I have heard sound files of other intakes and the PRM to my ears is definitely more aggressive than all the others without the open filter intake honk that always seems to be noticeable when you hear someone else's. It just seems to be more aggressive with a definitive tone all its own. The rush to 9K REALLY became addictive once I got this intake installed. It's not for those who like to remain stealthy, then again I have a Tanabe RM catback and that thing puts out 91 db's at IDLE so my license plate "BABY F1" sort of reflects my attitude towards sound. Some may actually PREFER a quieter intake but not me. My last car, an '00 Camaro SS had a modified Borla and this exhaust at WOT sounds every bit as aggressive, just higher pitched.
BTW Jimmy, it's prmracing.com for info.
