Default rick's 4.57 gears...

i was considering the 4.57 gear set considering it is the best bang for the buck. i was wondering though if it required me to take out the s/c just like when you have to install the pressure plate and flywheel.

Final drive gears are in the diff, which is at the back of the car. So, no.

ps. You don't have to take off a S/C to do the flywheel/clutch, either.

Sorry to hi-Jack the thread,

Wouldn't the compressor be in the way to lower the engine ?

you never have to lower the engine, or even touch it really...the gears go in the rear diff, which is in the back of the car.......

You don't have to lower the whole engine. You only need to lower the rear of it so that it angles down at the back. The front can be lowered just till the blower begins to touch. The only reason to even lower it is to get to the top 3 tranny mount bolts.

He was referring to the clutch job, but I think he now knows the diff is in the rear.
