as far as I know they don't produce them any more, but you can find used ones from time to time on the forums.

 

The header and Berk cat have been on the car for over 3 years and I have had absolutely no problems. The CAT is beginning to smell a little less like an OEM cat, but not to the point it would raise eyebrows. The coating is still perfect - and most noticably, I had zero instances of heat soak bogging during the hottest summers since the install. We've had some very hot summers in the Florida panhandle over the past two summers as well. So I would definetely say the ceramic coating was more than worth the money.

 

Ya the ricks is beautiful, I have the Mugen and they both look very similar. I have not seen dyno charts but where Id give ricks props are the extra heat shield mounting points and the extra 02 bung witch the Mugen does not have.

On the negative side, it seems my JetHot is starting to fade or bubble on the down pipe side... I wonder if its getting too hot for the coating or just needs a reapplication?

 

My first ricks header cracked in a spot i could not reach with the welder. Rick warranteed it, and its been on for many years now. From what I remember 6hp right at VTEC.

 

You may want to check with Jet-Hot. It sounds as if they didn't clean the surface well enough before application - they may warranty it for another application. Most of the coatings will stand up to any amount of heat a NA S2000 will put out. I had mine coated inside and out, which also helps helps with heat retention. I went with one of their highest temp coatings, the Extreme Sterling to help ensure the longevity of the coating.

 

Billman - Where did it crack? I want to check mine to see if there are any signs. I have an used Ricks header sitting here I am going to send to HPC as well for the sterling coating. This thread was my inspiration. I plan to send in the heat shields as well.

I am in Iowa, no smog, nothing, so I am not worried.

Given there are not many affordable tuning options other than v-afc for the AP1 which I don't want to do (Kpro is too much money, haltech etc is too much money), I don't want to go all crazy with cams, TB etc - I figured some basic bolt-ons and call it a day.

My full combo is the ricks header, berk 63mm test pipe and comptech cat-back. I will put all of it on when I get the header done. I am not going for maximum power or race mode - just a smoother, nicer sounding s2000. I could not find the fujitsubo legalis-R like Billman has - it was my 1st choice. I will spring for a comptech intake and call it a day.

Does anyone think this is a bad route to go etc? Advice appreciated. Thanks!
