Default Is this the right rear diff fluid?

I am going to Honda on Saturday for the 30k service plus other fluid replacements. I know from my past thread on overall service, that many have mentioned the rear-diff fluids used by most dealers is actually not the right one for the S2000. I called my dealer and it seems they use the one that comes in bulk. I took this to mean the same as for all other Honda cars. All he could say was that it's a 80W oil. This makes me nervous so I am going to bring my own in. Is Mobile 1 75W90 the right one to use? the DIY threads don't seem to mention a specific one to get. I want to make sure I buy the right thing.

TIA.

Yes, the Mobil 1 75w-90 is an acceptable oil and used by many for the rear diff.

There may be other options but you won't go wrong with the M-1.

You only need 1 quart when you go to the store.

Honda Canada dealers have been given this:

Honda America should have something similar.

If you are in the mood for reading, THE OIL JOURNALS, at the top of the forum is excellent. Xviper and Road Rage are to be commended.

I have been using Mobile 75w90 for the last 10K miles, but will be switching to the straight 90w, the LE607 next time.

The spec in the manual, as Road Rage pointed out is indeed 90w. Canada got some special dispensation as xviper mentioned to use 80w90.

If you don't want to do all the reading in the oil journals, I have come to the conclusion, that in the states, to be on the safe side you should use 90w as the manual calls for.
