Risks of 4.57 with stock LSD????
I've had my 4.57's sitting under my bed for a good while now...actually since they first came out and was wanting to wait until I could afford a Cusco LSD before I installed them. I am now realizing it's gonna be a long time before I put the $ toward a new LSD since I just replaced my stock one under warranty, and have lots of over mods I'd rather do first.
I know I need to get the comptech reinforced diff part plus the all the other misc. stuff. I'm just wondering how dangerous it would be to install the 4.57's with the stock LSD in there. I have a stage 3 clutchmasters clutch which engages pretty hard at redline shifts and I drive fairly aggressively on the street for the most part.
Just wondering of you guys running the 4.57's or even the other gear sets what the dangers of running a stock LSD are with the gears.

I think it depends on the use. We took my diff apart for the 4.57 install and it looked pristine inside, this after probably 7000 track miles on the car. If you are abusive to the diff it's a risk whether you're running 4.10's or 4.57's. I don't think the gear change alters that risk significantly.

Im not sure but i didnt think the lsd was in as much danger as the gears themselves. If the stock 4.10s are handling the clutch than I dont think that the 4.57s would be in anymore danger.

Well I've already blown out a stock diff once. I have lightened up on the gear banging a lot lately since that happen. I just hate to put the 4.57's in, get to driving real hard and make some hard shifts and blow the LSD out again. I know if I waited til I put the Cusco LSD in I could bang all day (within reason) without worry.
