Is it possible to change the ap2 top(roof skin) to an ap1 frame? no mods are required?

i understand you can change the ap2 frame+skin into and ap1 isn't a problem but just the ap2 roof skin to an ap1 frame? that possible?

New or used? For MY00 and 01 used no. But you can get replacement ap1 tops with the glass rear window. Other than that there is no diffence. The replacement ap1 top comes with retro fit straps so that the early model ap1 top folds correctly for the the glass window.

 

i'll be doing this conversion next summer i'd say, i think my ap1 top will last another summer, well hopefully anyway!

 

Been done many times and besides the top you only need simple elastic straps (no frame mod).
Check the DIY section for the instructions.

is that aftermarket you talking about or OEM ?

honda no longer sell the plastic is it or they just all sell glass roofs now?

the gentleman that the honda place seem pretty sure that the ap2 skin couldn't fit the ap1 frame.

so i just want to make sure i shouldn't have any problems when i order it.
cos i don't be changing the frame.. just the actual skin.

02-09 glass window tops are the same.

The. 02-09 top can be put on the 00-01 plastic window frame, but I can assure you it is not an exact fit. But it can be done.

The elastic straps do not exist on the plastic top frame. They are needed for glass tops, as they pull the movable top cross bar back so the frame can fold properly with the glass.

 

If it is not an exact fit, then how does it fit? What is different about it? It just doesn't line up? Solutions?

Or are you just speaking of the frame mods needed in the DIY.
