Rotational Noise

When a car has a noise concern like this at work (lexus) i put the car on the lift and have someone go through the gears, check to see if one of the axles are bent. This problem is often overlooked. im sure its not a backing plate considering it seems like you checked all the obvious stuff. But you might want to check those axles. I would assume that would cause a vibration though. Goodluck.

it is the wheel bearing/hub.

i believe we successfully eliminated the noise with the bearing and hub replacement.

that is a pretty cool tool..

but for me, it wouldn't have helped at all...as i already knew the noise came from the axle...i just had to determine which part.

old bearing out, new bearing in, about to press the hub in...didn't manage to get any of the ball joints free without busting the boots...damn. and bad honda for not stocking these parts. now i have to wait another day or two to put everything back together.

what tool did you use to remove the ball joints?

a fork type ball joint separator. i promise i was gentle.
the mechanic next door to me said he uses that all the time with no problems. bullspit!!

sorry to hear.

i tried using one of those and couldn't get it to work...

i'm glad i didn't damage the boot, but i did use gobs and gobs of silicone grease to lube it up.
