Default Rough Idle for first 10 minutes of engine start

For the first 10 minutes or so after I start my car, it idles above 1100 rpms... when I throttle up a bit and let go, the RPMs drop below about 800 and then shudders and immediatly recovers back to about 900~1000 RPMs...

Then after about 10 minutes, the car feels normal again.. it kinda sux cause my commute to work is like 15 minutes ....

This use to happen to my VW when I got a new intake (K&N).. I was told it was b/c the intake had not warmed up yet... but I thought cold air was better? the VW had a diverter that brought it warm air into the airbox, but since that was removed, that was determined to be the culprit...

My S2000 has no airbox, and has a K&N that goes into the front fender...

I just got my S2000 and the previous owner installed it, so i'm not familiar with the brand or type of this intake...

Any clues as to why this might be doing this ???

What is the normal idle speed of the S2000?

Stop doing this. There is no need to be sitting there "blipping" the throttle. Just start it, wait till the idle stabilizes and drive away.

Car idles at 900-1000, even more when you have accessories on (A/C)

Is it really a good idea to let it sit there and idle for more then 30 seconds?

My practice is to turn it on , wait 30 seconds and drive easy for a while.

Plus your car will warm up faster when you drive it
