I'd been considering a change to 5W-30 at a later time, but after these results, I'll probably just stick to 10W-30. I'll use my CR-V as a test platform for the RP 5W30.
Thanks for posting, VAD. That's a really good UOA. IMHO, I believe that lots of highway driving is keeping the moisture out of your oil, therefore keeping your TBN high. I realize you don't like keeping your oil in for a long time, but I think you aren't getting much (if any) less wear from short OCIs. You're spending a lot of money on a premium oil and not taking advantage of its ability.
I have a different perspective on engine maintenance than you do. You're using an expensive oil and changing it very frequently to keep it clean. Yet you're using a K&N air filter which is letting harmful, abrasive dust into your intake for slightly better engine performance. INDYMAC knew you were using a K&N because of the high silicon levels.
For the most part, the silicon is essentially tiny particles of quartz. They're very hard and abrasive. If you browse through the UOA forum at BITOG, you will find that high silicon levels are usually associated with high wear metals. Your wear metals aren't high primarily because you didn't have that many engine starts (when most of the wear takes place) and you don't have that many miles on the oil. If you were to switch to a stock air filter and increase your OCIs to 5000 miles, you will likely see no increase in wear metals with your driving habits.
But even if you don't change a thing, your engine will likely last a very long time.
