Have you considered maybe closing the gap just a wee bit or at least put it to the lower limit for a NA car? Using cold plugs might have a contributing factor in your instance. Maybe a gap of say ............. 0.040" (or slightly less - 0.038") rather than the 0.044" that is the upper limit? Just thinking out loud.
Do you have a CAI? When I did my insulated AEM CAI experiment a while ago, this whole heat bog thing was almost non-existant:

I would guess the cold plugs just don't burn off any coating that might build every once in a while, and am guessing gap is not the issue. I have only had the problem two or three times in the last few years. With my mods I have no issues with heat bog.
