Default Rubber seal at the top of the headlight?

The rubber seal at the top of my driver side headlight is worn through in the corner, this has resulted in water running down the back and into the headlight, at least this is where I think the water is coming from...

I took my car to Honda this morning, they said the seal is not sold separately, and a new headlight assembly is $950 (direct conversion from South African rand) - the headlight they have is also slightly different to my 2000 AP1, so I will need two headlights, $1900.

Does anyone know where I can buy this seal? Or have a solution...

Its our winter months, and we have winter rains, so would like a solution ASAP.

fix it right. search for the diy clear turn signal mod for instructions. bake the headlight assembly apart in the oven, then seal it back together with the recommended sealant. easy fix and done right for less than $20.

i'm pretty sure this is in the diy/faq...

This is the seal I'm talkling about in red , I can reseal the actual headlight comfortably, but the rubber seal between the vehicle body and headlight has eroded.

Pic borrowed from Mulders DIY thread:

oops, sorry for the confusion, this is a new one to me. so you think its running down the back of the headlamp and leaking through where the bulb connects to the assembly?

Yeh - its the only thing I can think of, no cracks, etc. on the actual headlight.

It only happens when it rains, so its not coming from underneath the car.

I guess its feasible but I'm not really convinced. I know the fender-headlight gaps on my car aren't water tight and I haven't had this issue. Mine has actually been in a few bad storms lately while i'm doing a motor swap in my subaru. no leaks.

it seems like you'd have to run an absolutely massive amount of water over the bulb assemblies before any water would seep in. have you checked to make sure all of the connections on the back of the headlamp are tight? are there gaskets there that can be replaced?

i'd put my money on a loose connection/worn seal between the bulb/lamp or a pinhole in the seal between the two pieces. i thought the piece circled along the top of the lamp was to keep the thing from rubbing the paint off of the quarter panel...

thats my .02... afraid i haven't been much help at all. good luck, let us know what comes of it.

Will do - I'll be looking into it properly this weekend.
