Default Rubber strip from under soft top

All, I found this Y-shaped rubber strip loose. It appears to go in the area just behind the driver's door. Looks like the adhesive finally failed.

Couple of questions:
1. What sort of adhesive is used to place these things?
2. I went through the 'body' section in the shop manual and couldn't find details for this piece. Can anyone point to the page numbers where the fitment for this is outlined?
3. I'm assuming it needs replacing -- I can't just clean this off and paste it back into place, right?

Thank you all! Hope you're all staying safe and sane in these unsafe and insane times!

The rubber strip:

Approximate location of where it goes:

I found the same part fall off while troubleshooting water in the trunk(bottom of trunk pan). Another on the soft top/window side has this issue too. It looks like a thin double sided tape is used on this seal. You could clean it up, apply some shin etsu and put another strip of double sided tape on it, but the seal is still going to be warped in a spot.

Mine fell off a couple years ago too. New Robbins top installed later. No leaks.

Curious where this fits in exactly and what the purpose was.

It's the top seal for the outside edge of the rain rail leading to the softtop drain cups on each side.

It's hard to slide it into place without removing the rear moulding and figuring out or knowing how it goes in. If you know how it goes in, then pulling the rain rail away and seating it on the top edge and pushing the rain rail back...

Welp good luck.

You must have another S owner near you to match up where it goes. Go to a coffee meet and see what you can find out.

So if I'm driving around in the meantime without this for a few weeks, I can expect to find water getting in somewhere?

basically that part is part of the $350 rear moulding, like I said if you don't know how it goes in you Almost have to remove the moulding because its located in a blind spot when installed. And because that rear moulding is one of the first parts assembled on the car. You will need to remove the interior, and the soft top, in order to remove that moulding. You cannot pull that moulding forward and out with the soft top drains in the way, and the only way to remove the soft top drains is to remove the soft top frame in the way of pulling the drain cups.

As I mentioned before. Good luck. Because your estimate of "weeks" is going to depend on your willingness to disassemble your car to properly slide that seal back into the groove and tape it down.

Mine fell out years ago and I never had a problem with a leak from that area. Didn't even encounter or notice one on the other side when I replaced the top with a Robbins.

Quick test with a garden hose will answer your question, but I think you'll be fine.

Deckoz, thanks for the bad news.

HarryD -- yeah, I hit the area with the hose and saw water draining from underneath the car as per usual, so I'm not sure it will be a problem after all. At the same time, why would Honda put it there if it wasn't needed?

It's really there for water splashing upward.

Sorry lol.
