Runaway Starter!
So - I just had my master and slave clutch cylinders both replaced (after finding that the clutch fluid was low and there was significant leaking around it) and after I went to go pick up the S at my mechanic shop this weird thing happened...
When I started up the car, the starter kept turning over, even when the engine was running. I turned off the car and restarted it, and everything was fine for the time being. However, the next time I started up the S, the starter just kept on going, no matter what I did! Engine off or on, the starter just kept on truckin'. So, even with the key OUT of the ignition, the starter kept turning over like it was trying to start the car. After finally finding a wrench (after about 10 mins and lots of black smoke later), I disconnected the negative terminal and the starter died.
I had never experienced this type of problem before this, and so, my question is this: Is there any way that the work done on the master and slave clutch cylinder could have caused a problem like this with the starter? If not, does anyone know what happened to the starter or which piece of the ignition system is malfunctioning? I've searched the forums for things like "runaway starter", with no luck. Have any of you encountered this type of problem before?
Thanks so much!
