Default Running lean

I have heard that 00 S2000's run lean up top of the rpm range. I know you could remedy this by buying a EMS and getting it tuned but would putting in a later year ECU do this? And if so, what is the best year ECU to put into a 00 S2000? Thank you for your time.

You can do it with a VAFC as well.

When tuning my VAFC my car actually wanted to be a little fat at the top of the power band. leaning it out actually yeilded a small power loss for me. Maybe with an EMS or something to tune timing with also would yeild better gains.

I'm running itnot his issue right now. I just opened a thread about running the AP1-AP2 set up. I just threw cel codes P0171 and 171 which is running lean. Not sure exactly why this is happening. Everyone's got their opinions thats why I opened up a thread. Are you running a stock AP1 set up?
