1999 engine change
Hi Guys an Gals, I have a 1999 silverstone with a knocky engine. I want to replace the engine to allow me to rebuild the damaged one without time pressure, but need to know which engine i can put in it. I have found a 2005 unit but am unsure if i can just fit it or if other parts need to come across from the donor car. Could anyone give a description of engine years/codes that could go in and what would need to come with them. This will help hugely in choosing the replacement. Sorry this is my first post - I have only had the car three days!!
Kind regards

a 2004-2005 2.2L engine will drop right in.
Only caution is taking it to 9k. You may want to limint your shifts to 8500.
There are those who successfully run the 2.2 to 9k with the 00-01 ecu also.

Since you are in the UK, the 2005 motor will drop right in. It is a 2.0 so you have not ECU things to worry about. You might want to pick up the transmission too if you can. they changed the internals and updated the syncros and that alone may be worth what they are selling it for.

Everything should bolt right up with the '05. It's the '06 and newer engines that would be a little different, but even the '06+ engines would work after you've swap a couple of parts from your old engine. Everything still bolts right into place.
