I believe RR was referring to the Mugen header and cat back I've ordered. Can't wait to hear and feel the results. Kingsport said I should get around 4hp out of each, with a mid-range boost. But I'm just as interested in the weight savings.

Regarding breaking loose on an 04, I have little trouble doing that with my current setup, which I'm guessing only has around 280 hp at the wheel right now. Maybe the 4.57's and mild clutch dumps around 4k or 5k help. They're not major burn outs, but the wheels spin a good several feet before catching. I don't do this often.

The Comptech SC+AC adds about 50 lb to the car. However, the weight is all in front of the front axles (unlike the engine which is behind). Personally, I haven't noticed a significant difference in, for example, slalom speed.

I, too, am considering going with a lighter exhaust (running stock ATM) but am having second thoughts because of
1. noise: I absolutely hate the drone of some aftermarket exhausts.
2. balance: sure, it saves overall weight, but it will be to the rear of the car making the F/R weight distribution further shifted fore.

You can do burnouts in 1st gear as long as you rev into 6000 range (~140-150 ft/lb RWT). However, you will be in the market for a new clutch fairly soon of you do this. I don't think that's necessarily a BAD thing, since I'd rather replace a clutch than the diff for example.

Comptech has the SC for the 04 but last I checked it wasn't CARB certified yet. Might have changed by now.

Halo:

I agree. I'm expecting most of the weight savings to occur behind the front axle. I'm hoping an adjustable suspension will help compensate for this weight shifting. But I don't know enough yet about such suspensions. I'm hoping I can get closer to stock handling with a little extra acceleration from the weight savings.

I don't like exhaust droning either. I chose the Mugen cause I'd heard it drone less than other units. I hope that's true.

Oh, and I was closer to 5k, maybe near 5.5k, on the burnout note. Plus it was fairly cold out at the time. I haven't tried since.

Centrifugal blowers don't give much of a "boost" at lower rpm, as you can plainly see in the dyno chart. Because they build boost in a square root-proportion to rpm, the designers have to be very careful with the S2000's very high redline. To produce a safe 6 psi boost at 9000 rpm the boost at low speeds is not much. 6 psi at 9000 rpm means 2.4 psi at 4500 rpm and less than 1 psi at 2250 rpm. 2.4 psi isn't much( ca. 18 hp ), and 1 psi is nothing ( a theoretical 3 hp but actually none ). I run a centrifugal on my truck ( 5500 rpm redline ) but the engine is a torque monster at low rpm. This type of blower is not going to increase low speed power at all....but what a rush as the rpm climbs...
