My buddy works at a Machine shop and we are currently working on a custom Single outlet for my S2. The system is being constructed of full stainless steel. Currently were ar elooking at a 4in tip, with a 5 in round muffler. We will be constructing the muffler in its entirety. We have some baffled screens that will be surrounded with fiberglass and then inserted and welded to a 5 in circular tube. We are thinking of using a 2 1/4 in piping for all the tubing and we will also include the additional muffler/resonator that is upstream (on the second section of the exhaust). I will be constructed the same way as the muffler only it will be a little smaller. The cool part is that were were playing with the steel and the tip, and instead of that blue tip everyone has, it looks like mine will be a Golden bronze. Im so excited no one produces an exhaust that i like to match the Red on my car.

But my question is do you guys belive the 2 1/4 in piping is enough for the exhaust? As far as i understand it should be 50+ milimeters wide. Do you think this will be straight through enough? And what is the second Muffler looking thing that is in all of the pics for aftermarket mufflers? I believe it is the resonator but i am not quite sure. Does any body have any pics of cutaway mufflers that i can use in help of constructing my own? Oh any ideas or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Im so freaking excited if nothing else i will have a custom handbuilt exhaust, thats one of a kind. I got the tip sitting right here in front of me and its looks so sweet. I just cant wait...

 

Heres the pic i was talking about with the secon muffler looking thing. Its the smaller section in the middle. Is it a resonator? and if so would it work if we constructed it with the same principle as the muffler?

 

Somebodys got to have some input.....

 

I'm not so sure how to constuct one but man if it works out i'd like to see how the thing works out.

good luck with it. id like to buil a 2.5'' custom cat back for my S with dual apexi n1 mufflers, but their really isnt a good shop around here that can do it for me. good luck again.

 

why are you choosing 2.5in piping? I sit just a number you picked o is there a reason. Do you think the 2 1/4 would be to small for a single?

 

I had an exhaust built with 2.5 inch piping..........Then had tw0 Apex-I N1 mufflers split to fit the 2.5 inch pipe. Mine is a dule setup.....Just my $.02

 

what about the resenator? Did u use one? if so how big you got any pics?
