Default Is the S safe to drive with pitted CV joints?

So I have been looking for an S2K for a while now and I think I have found the one I want. It does have one issue though. The dealership told me that the car experiences vibration under acceleration. I have done a search and found that the cause is most likely pitted CV joints. The man at the dealer told me they were going to send it to the shop to have it repaired, although they (the dealer) do not know what the problem is. I was hoping to knock down the price a bit and bring it home so that I can do the swap myself and have the peace of mind that it was done correctly with the right parts.

Anyway, my question is, can I drive the S home from the dealer or should I rent a trailer? The dealer is about 80 miles from my house.

EDIT:

I forgot to mention that the drive will inlcude freeway driving. More specifically the I-495 beltway around D.C.

You can drive it for awhile with pitted CV joints. I did it after I lowered my car for about a week before I swapped them around.

Thanks Vince and Billman! I just wanted to check with somebody just to be safe. I-495 isnt the place to be losing control of your car or breaking down.

The fix can be a no cost fix too, just some time and some basic tools. And the right grease......

Right. I will most likley just switch the CV buckets to their respective opposite sides like the DIY said. I would hate for something this simple be the cause for a shady mechanic to ruin something (no offense to anybody who is a mechanic).

Well, checked the VIN and the car was in an accident. The search continues...
