Default S2000 AP1 '00 Steering Issue

Hi Guys,

New to the Forum. I have read heaps of articles on here and have had my AP1 '00 S2000 for 6 months now. Thought it's time i register and raise an issue i'm having at the moment.

I noticed my steering sometimes feeling heavy and then light. My car was due for a minor service so i took it to Essendon Honda in melb. They've said that an error code come back and suggested an alignment as a fix. they want 380 dollars!! I don't want to pay that money for a wheel alignment when i've already had one done recently (month ago). so i picked up the car without them doing an alignment and now my steering keeps wandering off to the left and very hard to turn right. I took it back to them and they said they can't do anything but try a wheel alignment first. i really dont want to pay 380 for an alignment and they've made it worse than what it was. what if it isn't the alignment? blow away my money?

Any help will be appreciated.

Thanks

Alp

Take it some where else for a alignment.

I've tried the EPS Torque Sensor reset and still doing it. i'll get a wheel alignment done and hope this resolves it. i'll keep here up-to date.

I have an s2k customer with the same problem.

Normal assist turning in one direction (normal, moderate resistance/feedback)

FULL assist turning in the opposite direction (feels like the EPS motor is getting too much power, no feedback, steering TOO easy)

No solution yet....sorta

you said they did nothing. FIND OUT WHAT WAS DONE TO THE CAR that caused the issue. It was fine when you dropped it off yes?

The car I had here had tie rod end threads that were far off from each other (one showed 2-3 threads, other showed 13 or so), along with a mis-splined steering coupler.

I disconnected the coupler. Set the rack dead center. Reconnected the coupler with the steering wheel straight. Then equalized the tie rod ends. THIS IMPROVED the car by about 40%. the issue is still there but less pronounced.

You have to follow the procedure pretty closely to memorize the torque sensor neutral position.
If you don't get the right amount of blinks from the EPS light it did not re-write the neutral position.
