Default S2000 cams on RSX-S

Ok, over at club rsx I posted a thread . I dont remeber where, but I read about putting s2k camshafts on a rsx. Ok i think the engine in a s2k is F20C1?? But isnt it realy a k like the rsx k20?? And the cams have the same number of intake and exhaust lobes as the rsx cams? So it should work right......... Ok I just got back from surfing and I found this .

On a side note.... you guys have way cool smiles over here.

The letter at the beginning designates similar engine mount positions, AFAIK. For example, all the B series engines mount in the same position.

So no, its not a k series.

Actually, I hear that the heads might be swappable without any modifications.

S2k cams are not designed to be used with i-Vtec. I wouldn't suggest trying it because you'll likely just be wasting your time. If you're going to anyway, good luck and tell us how it turns out...

Good call...How much of a difference is there really though?

Doesn't iVTEC only vary the degree of the cam, similar to adjustable cam gears? If thats how it worked, then I suppose it would be possible.

Of course then you'd have to worry about valve clearances. *shrugs*

Some answers to questions

1) NO....K is different from the F series engines since the engine mounting points are different.

2) ITR_Gary is correct. S2k cams are not designed to be used in an iVTEC application. If ever the chance they may fit, the cam profiles would not be designed properly to work with the iVTEC setup (lift/duration/cam duration etc) Therefore more hurt may be done than any gains.

3) cmnsnse...No we dont want iVTEC in our cars. What we want is Honda to stop production of the S2k and keep it exclusive.

4) The F20C is a clockwise rotation engine and so are all the new iVTEC engines. All previous D and B series engines were Counter-rotation engines.

Don't i-VTEC cams work the same way as ferrari cams, that is to say they have a lobe with a varying profile along the length? I wouldn't think a normal VTEC cam would mix with that too well if that is the case..

I think they are regular VTEC cams with a variable phase sprocket on the intake.
