S2000 cold running problem
Hopefully someone can shed some light on this annoying little problem.
On cold mornings when I first start my year 2000, it starts fine and first time with no apparent problems. When you go to drive off the car fails to rev above about 3000rpm like its starved of fuel and doesn't improve even as the car warns up to normal operating temp. unless when warm you turn the ignition off, start it again then it runs as normal.

You have earlier generation than my car so not sure about yours.
On my 2006, first step is to turn the key to the on position and watch the light. It should come on with the key and then go off after 10-15 seconds. That says you have no Check Engine Light codes to read. If there are codes to read, the light will blink 3 times before going out.
If there are codes to read, you need a code reader. O'Reileys and other places will let you borrow one for a deposit. Then you plug it into a jack which on the 2006 is by your right knee when you sit down (under the dash). Plug it in, turn key on, press button on reader and it provides codes. The codes can be interpreted by many of us or can read the sticky on Check Engine Light codes in this forum.
Next day update:
Just went and read some of the sticky myself and see they have a link to a good page on the modify website that shows where your generation car has the jack and how you can read it without a reader by doing a simple jumpover and watching / counting the blinking lights. (Ain't boards like this great!) Here's the link.
