Default S2000 engine rebuild?

Hey guys,

I can't see needing a rebuild anytime soon but I plan on owning my car for a long time.

If I ever blow the motor or it just needs to be rebuilt, what are the options? I'd prefer not to buy a used motor and I'm guessing that Honda doesn't sale long blocks.

Is there anyone who can acutally rebuild these things? I'm guessing that building a 9,000 rpm four cylinder is not the same as rebuilding a small block chevy.

Sure you can re-build these engines as long as the cylinders and bearing journals aren't damaged. When my engine lost all of it's main bearings I picked up a good condition used block and we put all new Honda main and rod bearings, oil seals, piston rings, and an oil pump installed on it. Re-building a Honda engine is the same process as a Chevy engine as long as you follow the Honda specs for all parts. The cylinder heads can also be rebuilt if needed.

really the only special thing about these engines are that they use FRM sleeves in the block...which isn't a big deal, if by some reason you score the cylinder walls, then it can be re-sleeved

Find a friend with an S2k, get him drunk and take the motor.
