Does anyone know if it is possible to swap a 2.2l 2004 engine into the earlier 2001 chassis? Has anybody tried a swap like this? I think that the performance gains would be worthwhile.

 

Just buy an 04.

 

I don't have the cash. I figure I'll buy a blown up 2000-2003, and a wreaked 2004-2005, and finally swap the blown motor. 2004 performance with 2000 handling.

 

Actually this is being done now by HardTopGuy. They have the car and the motor. They will be installing the motor and seeing what if anything needs to be changed. So testing for this swap is inprogress. Stay tuned

I would assume you'd need the ECU from the 04 car as well.
