Default Synchromesh Transmission Fluid

i been doing dome searching, and found that previous 04 owners love to use this fluid, cause of the great results. but i also found that some are weary about using this cause the my04 has cf syncros.

i am planning to get a bunch of oil filters, washers, diff fluid, washer,to keep with me for future changes so that i dont have to keep paying for shipping. i was planning to get some of this tranny fluid at the sametime but now am worried cause of the possibility that it could harm the syncros.

can anyone clear this up,cause i like to know wether to get some or just to stick with oem tranny fluid.

thanks

hardtopguy recommended when I called to order my yearly maintance supplies a few mts ago. I've put on about 3k miles and honestly in that time, I don't feel much difference. IMO, it feels a little smoother when warmed up and less likely to break down like the oem did. To me the oem fluid gradually broke down so when I did change out at every 6k, I did not notice until the new stuff went in how much of a difference it made. With the GM I still have another 3k left on the current and this was the first time I switched so I'll have to report back with those results. I would probably need to drive an 04+ with the honda fluid and mine back to back to notice any real difference as everything now could be mental.

I put in GMSMFM a couple months ago. Love it. Previously, shifting from first to second gear was notchy and every now and then, I'd miss the shift. Since GMSMFM, it's been like buttah.
Another thing you can do to improve your transmission is to remove the limiter oriface from the clutch slave cylinder.

I actually still get the 1 to 2nd grind (when cold) after switching from OEM to GMSMFM but not nearly as bad as it was before. Once everything warms up it goes away.

GMSMFM made a definate improvement about 100% when cold and 200% better once warmed up.

I now double clutch from 1 to 2nd and 2 to 3 until everything gets warmed up.
I sill get a single notched engament when going from 2 to 3rd.
Dealership was able to duplicate the 2 to 3rd problem but said that it was normal.
Have documentation of this in case something ever happens.

BY THE WAY WHEN I CHANGED OUT THE ORIGINAL TYRANNY FLUID AT 10K BECAUSE I WAS HAVING MAJOR SYNCRO GRINDS IN EVERY SHIFT UP TO THE 4 TO 5TH SHIFT AND A LARGE NUMBER OF GEAR POPOUTS IN 1 AND 3RD I FOUND THE FLUID TO BE 1/8TH OF A QUART LOW ON A FACTORY FILL.
I ALSO GOT THIS DOCUMENTED ON A SERVICE RECEIPT.
THE JAP MECHANIC MUST HAVE HAD A HANGOVER ON THE DAY HE FILLED MY TYRANNY.

Without going CSI on the tranny and inspecting the gears... I believe that GMSMFM is okay in the MY04 tranny. I certainly like the smoother shifting.

Jeez, I posted on this in detail in the RR Journals, but I agree with deppenma's comments if people do not like to read technical analyses. GMS FM is what I use.

Theoretically, at a GM dealer or anyone who carries AC/Delco fluids. In practice, it is hit and miss. Only a few GM transmissions actually use it, so most dealers don't stock it. Call around.
