S2000 idling after put into gear?!
So I lost either my clutch or my transmission. The story was posted a long time ago and this is the easiest way to describe where my issue is coming from. A normal car, if put into gear and you let off the clutch after engaging gear, would die. My car just idles. So whichever part of the clutch, that engages with the transmission, friction disk/pressure plate must be cracked/snapped? Or could this be a bearing? Doubtful. But anyways it doesn't move but the engine starts up and runs like the day I got it. There's a smell of coolant, but I pulled my spark plugs and checked the head and nothing seems off.... changing oil this weekend. And my radiator needs replaced for sure from the overheating when I ended up losing my clutch. An oem clutch and master cylinder kit is only 1000$ shipped. Any chance it's the tranny and not the though clutch? Currently dallying a 97 ek hatch and trying not to let my s2000 lose it's glory.

Thanks Billman! Yeah and when I lost it was mid shift and I was locked into 1st unless letting it out slow and riding it hard. It was a bad time.... Then a few minutes later it just won't grab a gear I idled to the side of the road and had it towed. I start the engine every so often and smell a little coolant but I think the hose is ruined because I pulled the plugs and checked my head and it looked normal. Would love to get it running again because I was hoping my engine popped before this would have happened . My engine still revs and does what it does, it has been a little sloppy and dips down to like 600-700rpm idle for a few seconds on cold start and randomly while driving but that's not related to this. What you are saying makes sense. My ek hatch has the same issue only the clutch still is working for now. 96,800 original miles on it 97'.
