Default S2000 not starting when crank position sensor is connected

I replaced my engine on my S2000 and egine was installed properly and all wiring was also connected properly. Checked all ground connections. Checked all wiing and connectors. Car starts if Crank Position sensor is disconnected. Once I connect it, car does not start. I already replaced Crank Position sensor. All connections are OK. I have been trying to work this for 2 weeks now. Please help. I dont know what else to do...

Thanks for your response. We have checked the cam timing. Everything seems to be in place...

What year is the car?

Is the trigger wheel in place behind the timing cover?

I THINK...not positive...you can install the trigger wheel backwards on 06-09 cars.

The car is 1 2003 S2000. We see the wheel trigger in place. It looks OK. We bought the engine rebuilt and it looks like everything was assembled right. We even ran wires from the CPS connector to the ECU. Same problem. By the way, Thank you very much for your responses. This is just driving us crazy.

Did you buy a complete running engine?

Did you swap your head to this engine?

Add all info you can.

I bought the whole AP1 engine - checked engine #. we did the
Swap and it would not start. It only started when we unplugged the
CPS connector and keeps on running when we plug it in.
As soon as we turn off engine, it stops and does not start.
We have to dscnnct CPS again. We tried plugging in a second sensor but
the magnet was not in the engine and it started.

Thanks or your help. You were right. We checked the cam gears again and the exhaust cam was of by one gear so we repositioned the cam and it started running as of yesterday. Thanks again.

From what I have READ on s2ki...but have not experienced first hand...an S2000 will not run if one cam is one tooth off.

I have also read of cars running crappy with the cam timing off. This cam happen with an aftermarket ecu, but supposedly the stock ecu will not let it run out of time.

I'd love to put the myths to rest.
