running lean(more air than fuel) could cause melt down; and sometimes, defect in the sparkplug could break off the tip.

180-185 is low, but you also need to consider, mechanic and mechanism fault... those compression gauge breaks too easy. so w/ low #, it's wise to do leak down test.

My plugs broke off and destroyed my motor. Why does this happen?

it wasn't torqued properly?

would a stock engine do this to the point where it causes engine damage, for no reason?

the reason mine broke is advanced auto sold me spark plugs with the wrong heat range and 2 melted the tips off
