S2K Goes into REVERSE instead of 6th- no 5TH
Hey guys,
I just recently did a stage 5 CompClutch and light weight flywheel in my S2. After the job was done, the shifter was REALLY loose, extreme play.. You can rotate 2" in diameter the shifter whilst being in any gear- Purchased the gear bushing cage / bushing cap for $8.99 from my local honda. Swapped the parts in and the gear is PERFECT now, very stiff how it use to be.
HOWEVER; When putting the car into 6th gear, WITHOUT pushing down on the gear, it automatically goes into REVERSE... there's no 5TH gear what-so-ever... It's automatically engaging the pathway for reverse and thus not going into 5th........ How can this be possible?! What could the the issue? (I replaced the little cap thing @ the bottom of the gear lever when you take it out, as well as the cage / cartridge thingy that the gear "ball" sits in)
Edit: When "my" mechanic was dropping the transmission, I dont think he unbolted the shifter from the transmission, I was told from the dealership this in turn made him force the trans out / pry and thus the shifter bent/broke something internally??????

Surprisingly no... I was in the shop after I installed the nylon bushing / cage.. randomly noticed 6th was = reverse and no 5th thereafter.... It's been 1 month for this clutch job to get done and still... Still no finished S2
If the large plastic cage bushing is installed backwards, the shifter can be installed backwards and give you these symptoms (finding reverse instead of 6th as the detent tab no longers stops you)
