Default Scraped wheels

I was plugging one of my wheels and in the process the wheel tipped over. consequently, the arches of the oem wheel are slightly scraped(not too bad though). is there something i should to do to prevent rusting in the future? the scratches aren't deep at all, but still noticable.

thanks, btw i feel like doing this:

It's kinda weird you posted about this because just a few days ago I had a similar incident. I was having new tires put on and the shop scraped a couple of the rims in the same spot you mentioned. They were hoping I wouldn't notice, but I called them on it. One of their guys used a fine polish and polished out the scratches... good as new. He said there was plenty of clearcoat left on the rim too to protect it. Sounds like it's got a pretty good layer of clearcoat. I thought about the issue of rust too, but with the oem rims being made of an aluminum alloy I don't know if they'll rust. Not 100% sure, but I think aluminum won't rust... but maybe whatever other metals it's mixed with will.

The OEM wheels are aluminum. If they rust then I'll eat my hat.

As an aside, if you end up gouging your wheels, check these guys out: http://www.rimpro.com/

Some guys in the New England forum gave them high marks for repair, so I thought I'd repost.
