Sea Foam Needed?
I also use redline in my vehicles and I can literally feel the V8 smooth out. I really like BK-44 as an occasional fuel additive, it is much more powerful than the redline (and expensive).
But I disagree on the buildup not occuring these days. Sure old carb cars running junk fuel were really bad. But when you look at the heads of many of our cars I see a lot of carbon and some pretty "wet" looking deposits (not just the fine carbon film).

Do you think the thinning effect might be the reason they say to do it shortly before and oil change?
I have used it with good results but never added it to the oil.

awesome, thanks guys, slipstream, thanks for the explanation, I plan on using the additives you recommended,
Looks like if you really want to use the Sea Foam, a follow with oil change is in order/ and possibly a spark plug change

I used a bottle of seafoam after a few months when I first picked up my S2K with 79K. I didnt know how well the 1st owner maintained the car, so I gave it a shot.
I changed my oil after running seafoam in the crank for 100mi.
With my experience, after the treatment, my car immediately stopped burning oil (Mobile1 Fully Syn) as I no longer needed to add oil between oil changes. In addition I gained 20~25mi per full tank. The car ran better IMO.
These were my observations on my car & this may/may not work for others.

Yes, you are supposed to use SeaFoam immediately before an oil change, thereby negating any thinning effect on the oil from sucking it in thru vacuum line or pouring it in crankcase.
I do not use it on a regular basis. I have used it once on each of two high mileage vehicles with good results. My S2000 only has 37K miles, so I have never used it on that car.
I have seen people on other boards post before and after photos of using seafoam (anal retentive people who don't mind breaking down their engine) with pretty amazing results. If I can find one of these, I will post the link. EDIT: found a link with photos on lexusownersclub.com. Here it is: http://us.lexusownersclub.com/forums/index...5167&hl=seafoam
Seafoam works very good on 2 stroke motors, as well. It will clean up your lawnmower, weed whacker, blower, etc.
